I always thought there would be a before and after to swine flu, given its potential to close down a country for a week (in the case of Mexico) and maybe more and that the greatest impact would be the promotion of online services. The first example of that before and after may have occurred today in the UK, where the NHS has set up an online questionnaire that will lead to a Tamiflu prescription, without seeing a physician.
After all, why move a feverish patient, risk contamination of the physician and all patients present for a rushed consultation, clogging the system, and for which there is only one treatment?
And the bigger question is: which other diseases and treatment could benefit from the same ?
