The Biomedical Informatics wiki pulls together several hundred pages of articles on Wikipedia that deal with health IT. They can all be accessed on WIkipedia via a hyperlinked table of contents, itself a classification of the many terms that you have come to know and love over the years.
For example, the general overview section links to Health IT, health informatics, medical informatics, clinical informatics, cybermedicine, ehealth, Health 2.0, public health informatics and translational research informatics. This is followed by sections on healthcare management applications, health electronic records, decision support, imaging, digital libraries, telemedicine, robotics, legislation, ... several hundred pages in total with references and links.
You can see in a glance through the table of content/outline the key areas and concepts that compose each topic and read them at your own pace.
As you know, the articles on Wikipedia are supposed to be neutral and mostly are.
Also, thanks to the way Wikipedia functions, the book is automatically updated as the articles evolve.
The handbook is not complete, but that's the advantage of Wikipedia. It's by definition a work in progress!
And oh yes, you can read about Dr Sabbatini on Wikipedia, an article which --uh-oh-- needs to be edited for greater neutrality.
